Rocket Lab is hiring a Driver II based at the Middle River, MD facility. In this onsite role, you will join the shipping and receiving team to move materials, support production schedules, and ensure accurate traceability using ERP systems.

The position requires a valid license and a willingness to obtain forklift certification if not already certified. You will interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders while complying with safety policies and local driving laws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1+ year of driving experience.
• Valid driver’s license with no history of suspensions.
• Forklift certification is a plus and experience with heavy equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security and accountability of materials and goods within a local 180 mile radius.
• Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and shipments per sales/marketing schedules.
• Drive and deliver materials to Rocket Lab sites and partners, using ERP systems for traceability.
• Safely operate forklifts (when certified) and handle hazardous materials per company procedures.
• Track deliveries and communicate status to internal teams and partners.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Rocket Lab's Supply Chain team is responsible for the flow of all materials, products, and components through the business. With many of our own products functioning as critical components to our own and our customers’ missions, the Supply Chain team has a direct impact on the success of our rocket and satellite programs. They set up the assembly kits that enables our technicians to put together our Electron & Neutron rockets, manage inventory, look after shipping and receiving, manage direct and indirect procurement, and inspect and ensure that all of our materials and products are compliant and up to standard. They are the chain that links our teams together, and are critical to our success.

DRIVER II

Based onsite at Rocket Lab's Middle River facility, the Driver will join our shipping and receiving department in Middle River, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for activities related to the movement of materials or finished goods throughout the greater Maryland and Virginia area, including our sites in Middle River, MD and Wallops Island, VA.

What You'll Get To Do

• Ensure the security and accountability of materials and goods to and from local business partners (within 180 mile radius) performing work for Rocket Lab
• Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per sales/marketing schedules
• Establish and modify operational methods and procedures as necessary/
• Perform the physical or administrative tasks involved in the distributing of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment to local business partners as well as all Rocket Lab sites
• Lift heavy items and operate a forklift (once certified)
• Safely deliver and pick up material to and from local business partners and deliver to end users
• Handle hazardous material in accordance with company procedures
• Ensure traceability of all material and goods being transported through the use of ERP system and handheld devices
• Driving material and goods between business partners and Rocket Lab owned warehouses locally
• Tracking material and goods within Rocket Lab tracking system as they travel
• Communicating status of deliveries of material and goods as they travel
• Assist with urgent requests relating directly to our ability to meet production schedules and/or ship product as per sales/marketing schedules
• Adhere to all local and state driving laws, company safety policies, and ensure safe handling of all materials
• Interact professionally with suppliers and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
• Address and resolve any issues that arise during pickups or deliveries promptly and effectively

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1+ year of experience, with some experience also driving company owned vehicles
• Valid driver’s license with no history of suspensions

These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have

• Current Forklift Certification
• Material handling experience preferred
• Experience with heavy equipment (sit down and stand up forklifts) preferred
• Moderate to extensive experience driving large vehicles, such as Sprinter van, 22 foot Box truck, Stake bed
• Related experience in shipping and receiving preferred
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work on multiple tasks
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
• Ability to deal with variable situations and make good decisions based on business needs
• Familiarity with freight carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, and common truck carriers
• Experience in a customer service environment

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package at Rocket Lab.
