Job summary

Veterans Thrift Stores in San Diego is seeking a full-time on-site Driver Helper to support donation pickup operations.

You will assist the driver with loading and unloading, help keep the truck clean and safe, and provide friendly service to donors throughout the pick-up process. A California Class C license and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are required.

Training is provided and all hires undergo a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• Class C California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication and customer service skills; teamwork.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
• Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
• Experience in a related role is a plus but not required.
• Basic knowledge of truck operations and cleaning.

Role Description

This full-time on-site Driver Helper role is based in San Diego. As a Driver Helper, you will assist the driver with loading and unloading goods, ensuring all donations are transported safely and efficiently. You will also support in maintaining vehicle cleanliness and safety, while providing excellent customer service throughout the donation pick‑up process. Daily responsibilities will vary based on pick‑up schedules and operational needs.

Qualifications

• Class C California Driver's License plus a good driving record
• Strong Communication and Customer Service skills, with a focus on professionalism and teamwork
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs independently
• A commitment to safety and attention to detail in all tasks
• Previous experience in a related role is a plus, but not required
• Basic knowledge of Truck operations and willingness to assist with maintaining truck cleanliness

Schedule

Tuesday--Saturday from 8:00am-4:30pm with overtime as needed.
