Athens Services in Irwindale, CA seeks Driver Helper Trainees to support waste collection operations. Trainees assist drivers, load and hand-load waste, and communicate with customers and dispatchers to ensure safe, efficient service.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in pickup and transport of waste safely per regulations.
• Pickup specified waste from customer sites as scheduled.
• Ensure customers have waste packaged and prepared per rules.
• Provide high level of customer service to assigned accounts daily.
• Communicate issues to Operations Manager, Route Supervisor or Dispatcher.
• Secure waste, supplies and equipment before operating vehicle.
• Respect customers' property; maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Work safely to prevent injuries while loading/unloading.

It is expected that every Trainee employee will conduct his/her self in a professional manner at all times and perform all duties as assigned in a safe manner. The primary duty of all Trainee personnel is to aid the efforts of the driver and be a second set of eyes on the road to prevent accidents and injuries. Commercial Trainees are responsible for the collection and hand loading of commercial and residential waste. Our Trainees must also be able to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and supervisors. The Trainee role is the first step towards a fulfilling career in commercial driving. This role is intended to last between 12-48 months, depending on performance, skills development, and interest. An employee must serve a minimum of 12 months and no more than a maximum of 48 months before graduating with a Trainee Graduation Certificate and promoting to a Scout role. For those who choose not to pursue the path of becoming a Scout, the Trainee role will conclude after 48 months. However, Athens values diverse talents and interests, and employees are encouraged to explore other available roles within the company for which they may be qualified. Our helpers must also be able to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and supervisors. **Job Description*** Assist in picking up and transporting waste safely, according to all federal, state and local rules and regulations.* Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day.* Ensure that customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to all federal, state and local rules and regulations before transporting.* Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily.* Communicating any issues to Operations Manager, Route Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution.
