Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. seeks a Heavy Driver Level 2 to coordinate loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in Palmdale, CA. You will ensure safety of vehicles and equipment, organize loads to minimize delivery times, and perform minor mechanical adjustments as required.

A valid Class A CDL with HazMat, a high school diploma, and a clean MVR are essential. Applicants must meet DOT pre-employment requirements and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required and 2 years heavy driving experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with HazMat Endorsement.
• Clean MVR with no violations in past 12 months; DOT pre-employment checks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and pass a New Hire Physical.
• Ability to obtain U.S. Government Secret clearance and access.

Position Summary

• Coordinates the loading or unloading of trucks and trailers.
• Accountable for all aspects of safe operations of vehicles and equipment used in transporting company and government‑owned assets.
• Organizes loads to minimize delivery times and reduce waste.
• Makes minor mechanical adjustments as required and maintains the cleanliness of equipment.

Basic Qualifications

• Heavy Driver Level 2:
  • High School Diploma and 2 years of heavy driving experience
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Valid HazMat Endorsement
  • Clean MVR (no violations in past 12 months); must be less than 30 days old at time of request
  • Meets all DOT pre‑employment requirements (FMCSA Clearinghouse)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and a Special Program Access clearance
  • Must pass a New Hire Physical prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and possession of a valid Class A CDL with Hazardous Material and Passenger Endorsements.
• Ability to read in‑plant handling manual instructions, including special tie‑down arrangements.
• Two years or more experience driving transportation vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more and equivalent in‑job training as a forklift operator.
• Experience with basic computer software including Word, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to operate mobile devices (iPad, iPhone).

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $22.02 - $36.73

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. The company considers a range of factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions when determining base salary offers.
