Job description

Primary Purpose of the Position:

Food Bank for New York City’s truck drivers are reliable and dependable and represent the Food Bank in a courteous and professional manner while out on the road and in all dealings and contact with member agencies and partners, suppliers, and donors. Our drivers are required to use tact and diplomacy in all situations dealing with our partners and other team members and leadership.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver and pick up produce, frozen and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors and other locations as assigned.
  2. Assist in loading trailer with materials.
  3. Unload trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
  4. Transport loads over required route to proper destinations.
  5. Obtain shipping bills and necessary signatures.
  6. Return completed paperwork to the warehouse office.
  7. Remove empty pallets from trailer truck and carry them to designated piling area.
  8. Perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires on a daily basis.
  9. Complete other work-related and warehouse duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  10. Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid driver’s license – CLASS B CDL
  2. 18 years or older
  3. Ability to pass a drug test
  4. Ability to pass a background check
