Job summary

Watchpoint Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Class A Delivery Driver in California. You will safely operate tractors and straight trucks, interact with clients, load/unload shipments, and complete shipping paperwork.

Work Mon-Fri, 1:00pm–9:30pm, about 40 hours weekly, with shift flexibility as needed. Eligible for a $2,500 sign-on and retention bonus. Starting pay is $35–$38 per hour, with actual compensation based on experience and location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of truck operation experience
• Valid California Class A driver's license with clean DMV record
• Ability to operate single and double axel tractors and straight trucks
• Proficiency with basic computer systems and a TMS

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles, including tractors and straight trucks, in all weather conditions
• Interact with clients to provide a positive customer experience
• Load and unload shipments, verify documentation, and process shipping paperwork
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report discrepancies
• Use handheld routing device for customer information
• Support warehouse duties as needed

The Class A Delivery Driver works collaboratively as part of the Cartage team and has a direct impact on the overall success of Watchpoint. They are responsible for the safe operation of company vehicles while working with our clients to make pick-ups, deliveries, as well as processing customer shipments.

The starting pay for this position is expected to be $35 to $38 per hour. Exact compensation is based on skills, experience, education, and location.

The shift will be Monday - Friday 1:00pm - 9:30pm. This is a full-time job (40 hours per week) and requires team member flexibility with scheduling as the needs of the business may change from time to time and the shift may be adjusted.

Class A Drivers are eligible for Watchpoint's $2,500 sign on and retention bonus program.

Driver Class A Job Duties

• Safely operate company vehicles to include single and double axel tractors as well as straight trucks in all-weather conditions
• Interact face to face with our clients and provide a positive customer experience
• Carefully load and unload shipments at customer and vendor locations
• Verify shipments with customers for accuracy and obtain proper documentation
• Process appropriate paperwork for shipping, delivery, and receipt of customer merchandise
• Report and upscale any discrepancies at pickup or delivery
• Utilize handheld device for routing and obtaining customer information
• Be an ambassador of excellent customer service to all Watchpoint Logistics customers
• Perform routine daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is cleared for road safety
• Perform warehouse operational duties as required
• Various other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A valid California Class A driver’s license, continuously held for the past three years, including a clean DMV record that is acceptable by Company insurance (this includes; no more than one at fault accident or major violation in the past 36 months and no more than 2 minor violations in the past 12 months)
• Must be at least 25 years of age (to meet insurance requirements)
• Experience operating single axel and double axel tractors as well as a straight truck (bobtail), lift gate, pallet jack, and hand cart to transport materials and goods.
• Basic use of computer systems and applications (TMS) as trained/required.
• Shows up on time, follows instructions, acknowledges and corrects mistakes.

• Able to receive work instruction in both written and oral formats. Written and verbal communication is completed in a clear and organized manner.

• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and efficiency; is detail oriented and conducts work with minimal errors. Meets productivity goals set by management.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years of experience in a truck operation

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s essential functions require the following physical demands: carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, crouching, significant finger dexterity, and some climbing. Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds. The job is performed in a warehouse setting with temperature variations and requires the use of safety shoes and high visibility clothing.
