Job summary

Galleher Industries in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to safely transport lumber, steel, and materials on local and regional routes with no routine overnight travel. This hands-on role requires forklift experience and adherence to DOT/FMCSA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Current Class A CDL (CDL-A) required.
  • 3–5 years of CDL-A driving experience preferred.
  • Acceptable driving record meeting company and insurance requirements.
  • Must meet all applicable DOT and FMCSA driver qualification requirements.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid DOT medical certification.
  • Experience using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) required.
  • Previous forklift experience required, including handling large or oversized materials.
  • Experience transporting lumber, steel, building materials, or similar freight preferred.
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, or metal fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability and willingness to assist in warehouse, yard, and manufacturing operations when not driving.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport and deliver lumber, steel, and materials to customer locations in Indiana and surrounding regional areas.
  • Operate Class A commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety requirements.
  • Load and secure cargo using appropriate equipment, including forklifts; forklift experience required.
  • Safely handle oversized and heavy materials, including lumber and steel.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate ELD records, mileage, fuel usage, delivery documentation, and other required records.
  • Ensure loads are properly secured before transportation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, supervisors, and other team members.
  • Assist with loading and unloading freight and trailers as required.
  • Support warehouse, yard, inventory, and general production activities when not engaged in driving.
  • On days no deliveries or pick-ups are required, help in various warehouse or manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Galleher Industries has been a trusted supplier in the lumber and steel industries for more than 90 years. We are seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver to join our team in Lafayette, Indiana.

This is a local and regional driving position with no routine overnight travel. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting lumber, steel, and other materials to customers while providing dependable, professional service.

This is also a hands-on position. When not actively driving, drivers are expected to support warehouse, yard, and manufacturing operations as needed.

  • $28.00–$30.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Schedule

Full-time | Monday through Friday | Home Nightly

Routes are primarily local and regional. Extended weekday hours may be required depending on delivery schedules and business needs.

Galleher Industries does not provide CDL training. Candidates must possess the required CDL-A license and applicable driving experience prior to hire.
