Job summary

Clean Harbors in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate a range of heavy and light trucks at customer sites, including vacuum trucks and roll-offs. The role involves driving and non-driving tasks on and off-site related to hazardous waste cleanup.

Hours are Monday–Friday with local runs and occasional overnights. A mandatory in-person Clean Harbors Academy out of state is part of onboarding, with airfare, hotel, shuttle, meals, and a $38 nightly per diem provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to use various mobile devices (e.g., tablets, phones).
• Willingness to undergo background check, drug test, and medical exam; respirator requirements per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers in a team environment.
• Drive a variety of Class A trucks and perform loading/unloading of goods.
• Maintain daily logs and time sheets; complete reports as required.
• Follow DOT, local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis; assist with site remediation and hazardous material handling.

Job description

Clean Harbors in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks/work equipment at our customer sites; some of the vehicles operated include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs. This role is responsible for performing driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites associated with hazardous waste clean-up.

Hours would be Monday through Friday days, weekends off. Local runs with the occasional overnight.

This position requires attendance with an in-person Clean Harbors Academy out of State. as part of your onboarding and training. Attendance is mandatory. Clean Harbors provides airfare, hotel accommodations, transportation to/from the Academy, breakfast and lunch, and a $38 nightly per diem. Academy training is paid at your normal rate. Candidates must be able to travel and attend the full 2 week Academy to be eligible for this position.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps)
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks
• Loading and unloading of trucks
• Manual labor on site to ensure fulfillment of customer needs
• Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
• Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
• Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
• Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
• By position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week
• By position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
• Ability to use various mobile devices
• Perform physical functions per job requirements
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial driver experience
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
• Previous Hazmat experience
• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Previous manual labor experience
