General Purpose
This position is responsible for the safe, on-time delivery and pickup of linens using company-assigned Class A vehicles—including trailers, box trucks, or cargo vans.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate CDL Class A vehicles (trailers, box trucks, cargo vans) to deliver and retrieve linen from customer sites on assigned or alternate local routes
- Deliver carts (metros) efficiently and collect signed delivery tickets at each location
- Reconcile deliveries and pickups to ensure counts match manifests
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain delivery vehicle cleanliness and refuel at end of each shift
- Comply with DOT regulations, traffic laws, and all company safety policies
- Maintain a professional appearance in full uniform and deliver outstanding customer service
- Navigate challenging traffic conditions or weather while meeting delivery deadlines
- Communicate route issues or customer concerns to the Logistics Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL A license and current DOT medical card
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Highly punctual, responsible, and deadline-driven
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised 90% of the time
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Must meet all DOT pre-hire requirements
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
Working Conditions
- Inside work: protected from weather conditions
- Outside work: no effective protection from weather
- Extreme cold: below 32°F for periods >1 hour
- Extreme heat: above 100°F for periods >1 hour
- Noise: employees must shout to be heard over ambient noise (hearing protection required)
- Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body
- Potential hazards: moving parts, electricity, gas, scaffolding, chemicals, etc.
- Terminal viewing: extended viewing of screens
- Atmospheric conditions (non-confined spaces): fumes, odors, mists, gases, poor ventilation, etc.
- Oils: exposure to air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids
- Respirator: use of a respirator is required
- Physical stamina demands: extended work hours requiring stamina beyond normal demands or levels
