Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, is a leader in advancing reliable infrastructure with local service and nationwide reach. This role supports customers by delivering products, loading/unloading, and maintaining DOT-compliant records while upholding safety standards.

Candidates need a current Class A CDL, at least one year of commercial driving experience, forklift experience, and the ability to operate a manual transmission. This full-time position offers community impact and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Have a current Class A CDL issued by the candidate's state with relevant endorsements (HazMat not required).
• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience compliant with FMCSA/DOT regulations.
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• On-the-job manual transmission operating experience required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products to customers and assist with unloading as needed.
• Load truck with daily deliveries and unload at the customer site.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT and company policy.
• Maintain vehicle logs and bill of ladings; ensure manifests are complete.
• Plan routes and adjust for traffic and construction; resolve customer issues.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Delivers products to customers which may include assistance with unloading, ensuring delivery of ticket with material, etc.
• Loads truck with daily deliveries.
• Unloads product at customer’s site.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Core & Main policies and procedures.
• Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after route.
• Fuels truck as needed.
• Resolves customer service issues.
• Complies with all DOT (Department of Transportation) standards and regulations.
• Maintains records such as vehicle logs and bill of ladings in accordance with guidelines.
• Plans route to and from customers' businesses and adjusts for traffic and/or construction.
• Ensure that manifests are complete and accurate.
• May assist warehouse staff with pulling and preparing orders for shipment, as well as receiving, verifying, staging and stocking all incoming material.

Requirements

• Have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the state in which the candidate resides with all the relevant endorsements required for type of equipment being operated (i.e. HazMat to transport hazardous materials that require placarding).
• One (1) year of commercial driving experience compliant with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT regulations preferred.
• Forklift experience.
• On-the-job manual transmission operating experience.

• Prior experience loading/unloading piping products (lumber, steel, building products, etc.)
