Job summary

R.P. Lumber is seeking a CDL Driver for our Linton, IN lumberyard. This is a local, on-site delivery role requiring safe operation of a commercial truck, loading and unloading building materials, and accurate paperwork.

You will deliver lumber, shingles, drywall, millwork, and related products to customer jobsites, then assist in the yard when not on a route. A team player with solid driving record will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or Class B CDL (air-brake and manual-transmission endorsements preferred).
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Acceptable commercial driving record for the prior 60 months.
• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED, or 6–12 months of related experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers, vendors, managers, and teammates.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as business needs require.
• Ability to perform the essential physical functions, including lifting 50–100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lumber, shingles, drywall, millwork, and other building products to customer jobsites.
• Meet delivery schedules and provide professional, courteous service.
• Unload or assist unloading using boom/crane, Moffett, or by hand.
• Follow safety rules and site conditions at every stop.
• Keep delivery paperwork accurate and up-to-date.
• Assist in yard operations when not on a delivery.

CDL Driver (Lumber & Building Materials)

Linton, IN | On-site | Full-time | $20.00–$25.00 per hour

R.P. Lumber is hiring a CDL Driver for our Linton, INlumberyard. This is a local, hands-on delivery role for a safe, customer-focused driver who can run a commercial truck, load and unload building materials, and keep paperwork accurate.

You will report to the General Manager. On a typical day you will deliver lumber, shingles, drywall, millwork, and other building products to customer jobsites, then help in the yard when you are not on a route.

What you will do

Deliveries and customer service

• Deliver building materials to customer jobsites using efficient, legal routes
• Meet delivery schedules and represent the company with professional, courteous service
• Unload or help unload product by boom/crane, conveyor, Moffett (piggyback), or by hand
• Watch jobsite conditions and follow safety rules at every stop
• Secure return loads before leaving the jobsite

Inventory, paperwork, and yard support

• Complete delivery, return, transfer, and Delivery Waiver / Consent paperwork so inventory stays accurate
• Help load and secure residential and commercial building products on trucks
• Work with yard personnel to verify materials and quantities before a truck leaves
• Stock, load, and organize lumber and building materials in the yard and warehouse
• Help customers in the yard with loading and product questions when you are not on a delivery

Vehicle and safety

• Keep the inside and outside of assigned delivery vehicles clean
• Complete required daily vehicle and equipment inspections
• Follow company safety guidelines and all traffic laws
• Keep your CDL and DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate current
• Complete required company equipment training and certification, including boom and forklift certification
• Perform other related duties assigned by the General Manager

• Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, working indoors and outdoors in changing weather, and frequently lifting or moving 50 to 100 pounds

Nice to have

• Experience delivering lumber, building materials, or other construction products
• Experience operating a boom truck, Moffett/piggyback, conveyor, or forklift
• Strong product knowledge of lumber, drywall, shingles, millwork, and related materials
• Familiarity with jobsite deliveries and contractor customers

Pay and benefits

Pay range:$20.00–$25.00 per hour

Potential pay rate based upon region, experience, education, licenses and certifications.

Schedule and work location

This is an on-site position. Work includes local jobsite deliveries and yard support. Weekend and holiday work is required based on store and delivery needs.
