Job summary

Behavioral-Health-Allies in Kansas City, MO seeks a Driver Aide to safely transport clients, assist with boarding, monitoring, and exiting, and provide behavioral, emotional, and mobility support as needed. You will help maintain dignity, safety, and a welcoming transportation environment while collaborating with Behavioral Clinicians.

This part-time role offers a starting rate of $17.92/hour with a $500 retention bonus for 20+ hours/week, paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience transporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or medical conditions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers boarding and exiting vehicles safely, including securing seatbelts, wheelchairs, and safety equipment.
  • Monitor clients during transit, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
  • Provide calm, respectful, and empathetic support to passengers during transport.
  • Maintain vehicle readiness and cleanliness alongside the Driver.
  • Contribute to accurate completion of incident or trip reports as directed.
  • Collaborate with Drivers, supervisors, and program staff to meet passenger needs.
  • Advocate for dignity, inclusion, and safety of all passengers.

Pay Rate

Our compensation is competitive within the market. The starting rate for this position begins at $17.92 per hour, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications.

RETENTION BONUS OPPORTUNITY!
  • $500 — Part-Time (20+ hours/week)
Stay & Earn

Half of your bonus is paid at 90 days, with the remaining half paid at 180 days.

Schedule

Monday-Friday

Split Shift Schedule: Mornings as early as 6:00 AM and Afternoons as late as 6:00 PM

Position Summary

At BHA, Driver Aides play a vital role in ensuring the safe, respectful, and supportive transportation of clients. This role assists with boarding, monitoring, and exiting procedures, while providing behavioral, emotional, and mobility support to passengers as needed. The Driver Aide fosters a secure and welcoming transportation environment, always promoting client dignity and safety.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Drivers aides implement supports using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), working in close collaboration with Behavioral Clinicians to carry out evidence‑based interventions, skill‑building programs, and behavior support strategies with fidelity.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience transporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or medical conditions preferred.

  • Must participate in, prior to hire and annually thereafter, a Human Performance Evaluation conducted by a medical provider of the company’s choosing.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • This position is subject to random and annual drug and alcohol testing.

  • Directly or indirectly responsible for completing time reports on or before the defined due date.
