Job summary

Fermilab is seeking a Driver to operate commercial and other motor vehicles up to Group A under FMCSR guidelines and to operate material handling equipment as directed by the dispatcher or management. The role requires a high school diploma and all required licenses to operate the assigned vehicles.

This onsite position is based at our Batavia, IL facility and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, retirement plans and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles and powered industrial trucks as directed by the dispatcher or management personnel and performs all work functions in accordance with all Laboratory (ESH&Q, WDRS, etc.), Department of Energy, and Department of Transportation regulations and policies.
• Loads, unloads, secures, and protects material, equipment, and personnel being transported.
• Operates the articulating crane, the hydraulic trailer, forklift trailer, and tow truck.
• Prepares skids, barrels, electronics, equipment, crates, reels, and other related items for transportation.
• Performs and documents before and after trip inspections for commercial motor vehicles.
• Maintains care and safe operation of assigned vehicle.
• Delivers and positions furniture, equipment, and material per customer direction at delivery destination.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

The expected hiring range for this position is:

$25.72-$31.37.

About the Role:

Fermilab is seeking a Driver who will operate commercial and other motor vehicles up to and including those identified as Group A in section 383.91 (a)(1) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as directed by the dispatcher or management personnel. You will also operate material handling equipment (powered industrial trucks, pallet jacks, dollies, platform carts, etc.) as directed by the dispatcher or management personnel.

What your day-to-day as a Driver will look like:
