Job summary

Kintegra Health in Newton, NC is seeking a Driver for our Senior TLC Transportation team. This full-time hourly position transports physically limited participants to and from appointments under supervision of the Transportation Coordinator.

You must be 18+, with at least 1 year of experience serving frail elderly individuals and hold a valid NC driver's license with a clean record. Immunizations up-to-date and a teamwork-focused, safety-conscious mindset are required.

Qualifications

• Certification(s)/Licensure: Valid NC Driver's License with clean driving record (no major violations).
• Special Training: Team environment and handicap-accessible vehicle operation; competencies annually.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with participants, families, staff and agencies.
• Drives various vehicles and may operate any vehicle per instruction.
• Delivers physically limited participants and uses wheelchair lifts and tie-downs safely.
• Follows schedules and determines safest routes; routes approved by Coordinator/Designee.
• Assists participants on/off vans using proper safety techniques.
• Provides door-to-door service and assists participants to/from residences.
• Responds to emergencies appropriately.
• Inspects van and reports maintenance needs; keeps vehicle clean and safe.
• Maintains fuel receipts and documentation as instructed.
• Participates in Interdisciplinary Team and care planning; communicates changes to team.
• Keeps a safe driving record; license verified annually.
• Meets physical requirements (standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, squatting, walking).

Summary of Position:

Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, is responsible for the direct transportation of physically limited passengers to and from their destinations. Position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies.

Education: High School Diploma or GED;

Experience: Must be 18 years old and have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with the frail elderly population.

Certification(s)/Licensure: Valid NC Driver's License with good driving record with a minimum of no major moving violations

Special Training: Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and operate handicap accessible vehicles. Only act within the scope of his or her authority to practice. Meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by Senior TLC and approved by CMS before working independently and yearly thereafter.

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively communicates with participants, families, staff and other agencies and departments.
• Is trained to drive all variety of vehicles that are included in the organization’s transportation fleet with the understanding may drive any type of vehicle upon the instruction of Transportation Coordinator and/or designee.
• Drives a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited persons to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and that participants are delivered to appointments in a timely manner.
• Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, and determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes. The Transportation Coordinator and/or Transportation Support Specialist must approve all adjustments in schedules/routes.
• Assists participants on and off vans using proper safety techniques in a courteous manner. Demonstrates the proper use, care, and storage of durable medical equipment at all times.
• Must assist participants to and from their residence using appropriate safety measures related to the participant’s fall risk. Must provide door-to-door service ensuring participant exits residence safely and enters residence safely prior to leaving the residence.
• Responds to emergencies appropriately.
• Inspects van and maintains it in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Reports the need for maintenance. Completes daily maintenance check off sheet and submits to Transportation Coordinator or designee as assigned.
• Maintains proper documentation of fuel receipts as instructed by Transportation Coordinator and/or designee.
• Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team as requested. Attends staff meetings and takes part in participant care planning as requested. Communicates any changes in participant condition to appropriate team members.
• Maintains a safe driving record as evidenced by retaining a North Carolina driver’s license. Valid driver’s license will be verified annually.
• Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position to include standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, squatting, and walking for intermittent periods.
