Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid New York State driver's license.
  • Minimum of three years of a clean driving record.
  • Willing to obtain a Class E driver's license upon hiring.
  • Background check and biennial physical examination required.

Responsibilities

  • Transport clients to medical appointments, employment sites, and programs in Delaware County.
  • Operate agency vehicles safely according to NYS laws and policies.
  • Maintain vehicles clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Communicate with Dispatcher regarding schedules and client needs.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork promptly.
  • Use smartphones, GPS, and apps to track routes and trips.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties to support operations.

Job description

Delaware Opportunities Inc. is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Driver based out of our Hamden location. This position plays a critical role in supporting our mission by providing safe, dependable transportation to individuals accessing essential services within Delaware County and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate is dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Drivers represent Delaware Opportunities in the community and are expected to provide professional, courteous, and respectful service while ensuring the safety and dignity of all passengers.

This role requires independence, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and client needs. Evening and weekend hours may be required based on program demand

Job Responsibilities
  • Transporting clients to and from medical appointments, employment sites, community programs, and other approved destinations both within and outside of Delaware County;
  • Operating agency vehicles safely and in accordance with all New York State traffic laws and agency policies;
  • Maintaining assigned vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly condition;
  • Communicating regularly with the Dispatcher/Secretary regarding schedules, route changes, and client needs;
  • Coordinating vehicle maintenance and repairs as directed;
  • Accurately completing and submitting required daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork in a timely manner;
  • Using agency‑issued smartphones, GPS systems, and transportation applications to track routes, schedules, and client trips;
  • Upholding confidentiality and professionalism at all times;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned to support program operations
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Valid New York State driver's license AND
  • A minimum of three (3) years of a clean driving record;
  • Must be willing to obtain a Class E driver's license upon hiring (at no cost to employee);
  • Employment is contingent upon the ability to pass a criminal background check and a biennial physical examination
