Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village is hiring a Driver to transport staff, clients, and supplies across our network in New York. The role requires a clean driving record, five years of driving experience, and the ability to stay calm in traffic and emergencies.

The position is on-site, compensation is listed per hour, and you will be responsible for vehicle maintenance, logs, and safe operation of agency vehicles across various sites.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• At least five (5) years of proven driving experience.
• No statutory or major violations listed on MVR.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations.

Responsibilities

• Transports clients in agency vehicles to other program sites, appointments, or within the community, etc.
• Picks up and delivers supplies from vendors, other sites, etc. as needed.
• Transports staff to other sites as needed.
• Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays.
• Observes all traffic and vehicle operation laws to ensure the safe and legal operation of agency vehicles.
• Maintains and updates Vehicle Trip Logs daily.
• Follows agency vehicle emergency procedures in case of an accident.
• Inspects vehicles before use in order following the agency vehicle checklist to ensure that they are maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition.
• Demonstrates a professional standard of conduct in representing the agency out in the community.
• Drives to and from agency sites to pick up items i.e. mail as requested.
• Reinforces agency policy in using vehicle safety/seat belts.
• Maintains vehicle by ensuring regular preventive maintenance work is performed.
• Ensures that the vehicle is cleaned and fueled regularly.
• Performs other duties as requested.

The Role

Under the general direction of the Operations Coordinator !!, the Driver is responsible for transporting staff, clients, and supplies in a safe and orderly fashion by agency vehicle to appointments, other agency sites, etc. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
