Johnstone Supply LLC in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is hiring a Driver to ensure safe, on-time delivery of HVACR products to customers and store locations. You will drive a straight-body 26 ft+ truck, verify orders, complete PODs, and maintain vehicle and warehouse equipment in good condition.

The role requires a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to work in a team-focused environment with strong customer service and communication skills.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1+ year truck driving experience or equivalent.

• Experience with RF scanning, GPS, and inventory systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transporting and arrival of products, in a timely manner, to our customers and other store locations. Responsibilities include driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading orders into company/customer vehicle, return service, sharing feedback from customers, as well as maintenance, upkeep, and repairs of the company vehicles and warehouse equipment. The Driver position is required to possess a valid drivers’ license at all times and must meet all state and federal driving regulations.

• Maintains positive relationships with customers by providing exceptional service that includes accurate and timely delivery of products.
• Serves as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
• Safely operates company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
• Maintains cleanliness of inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment; refers defects, issues, or needs for repairs to supervisor promptly.
• Loads and unloads trucks. Checks and verifies deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
• Prepares routes and follows schedules and deadlines for delivery, shipping, receiving, and other related tasks.
• Drives straight body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customer’s place of business, job site, or other Johnstone store locations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions, utilizing communication methods safely and in accordance with all requirements and expectations.
• Immediately communicates delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to supervisor.
• Record sales and/or delivery information as applicable. Completes manifest with pictures, signatures, and any returns by way of iPad or manual completion.
• Returns vehicle at end of day, verifying it is fully fueled; completes monthly driver log and any associated paperwork; ensures the vehicle is secured.
• Returns gas receipts, monies, vehicle inspection logs, and any other paperwork necessary.
• When not driving, shares day-to-day warehouse operations responsibilities as a material handler.
• May be assigned on-site inventory-related responsibilities at customer site.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• Required: High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred:

• 6+ months of experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility, preferably in HVAC/R or related field.
• Experience with a picker, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
• Experience driving a forklift.
• Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
• Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

• Must have a valid drivers’ license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company; must remain eligible at all times to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations.
• CDL preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, GPS, mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices, RF equipment, and ERP software. Must be able to read a map and mapping applications accurately.
• Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to work safely in all job tasks.
• Skill in operation of delivery vehicles and power equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker; ability to operate a lift gate safely and effectively.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.
• Familiarity with warehouse or distribution center management systems and order picking processes.
• Must be able to perform all the duties of a Material Handler. Typically, this entails order filling, stock replenishment, will call, and inventory cycle counting.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to attend to details.
• Ability to complete routine paperwork.
• Ability to work with others in a team-based environment.
• Strong customer service skills; ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others and to maintain relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• While multilingual skills are valued, English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement for this position due to the nature of the work, safety regulations, and to ensure accurate communication and comprehension.

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday.The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee is frequently required to lift and carry and/or move up to 50 pounds and required to lift more weight with mechanical assistance or the assistance of team members. For driving duties, employee is required to sit for long periods of time and can experience bouncing and vibration.
