Job description

Overview

Superintendent – Micropile & Ground Drilling

Miami, FL (relocation assistance available)

$120,000 – $160,000 base salary + biannual field leadership bonuses

Full-time | Onsite / Field-based | Travel within South Florida region

A well-established specialty geotechnical construction contractor is seeking a hands-on Superintendent with a proven career installing and leading teams on micropile, tieback, anchor, and ground improvement projects. This position is ideal for an experienced driller or field leader who has built a long-term career in the deep foundation or geotechnical construction industry and is now ready to take ownership of site leadership on technically complex projects.

The role calls for someone who is steady, reliable, and deeply skilled in the craft of drilling, not someone transitioning from oil & gas or unrelated heavy industry, but rather someone who understands the nuances, risks, and precision involved in foundation work for infrastructure, commercial, and industrial construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise daily field operations for micropile and ground-improvement projects, ensuring work meets design specifications, safety requirements, and client expectations.
  • Direct crews performing drilling, grouting, rebar placement, tiebacks, anchors, and testing activities.
  • Oversee rig setup, grout mix procedures, and pressure testing to maintain quality and compliance standards.
  • Manage site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment readiness, and field documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers and Engineers to align field execution with schedule and technical requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and performance checks to maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Train and mentor field staff, ensuring consistency in drilling techniques, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
  • Monitor production and resource utilization, proactively identifying and resolving field challenges.
  • Provide accurate and timely daily reports, timekeeping, and project updates to management.
  • Enforce strict compliance with OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures at all times.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experienced Career Builder – 10+ years in construction with a stable, long-term track record in geotechnical or deep foundation drilling (micropiles, anchors, tiebacks).
  • Field Leader – Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience leading drilling or ground improvement crews.
  • Technical Expertise – Deep hands-on knowledge of micropile drilling, grouting, and installation; comfortable with varying soil conditions, rig configurations, and QA/QC testing methods.
  • Safety-First Mindset – Strong command of field safety leadership and crew accountability.
  • Strong Communicator – Able to clearly coordinate between office, field, and client representatives.
  • Adaptable and Resourceful – Solutions-oriented leader who thrives in field-driven environments with changing conditions.
  • Willing to Relocate – Open to relocation to the Miami area
What We’re NOT Looking For
  • No Oil & Gas or Mineral Drilling Backgrounds – This role focuses strictly on micropiles, ground improvement, and structural foundation work, not petroleum, pipeline, or well drilling.
  • No Limited-Scope Supervisors – We need someone with broad site management capability, not just an operator or foreman without crew or project oversight.
  • No Light Commercial or Residential-Only Experience – Candidates should come from infrastructure, heavy commercial, or industrial-scale construction backgrounds.
Ideal Background
  • Background in geotechnical construction, deep foundations, or specialty ground improvement.
  • Experience with micropiles, tiebacks, soil anchors, or jet grouting is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with heavy equipment, grout plants, and drilling rigs.
  • Working knowledge of site documentation, testing procedures, and quality control.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or competent person training are a plus.
