Job summary
A leading engineering firm is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to design and implement advanced control systems for drilling rigs. The role requires at least 5 years of experience in control systems and PLC programming. Domestic and international travel to drilling sites is necessary. The engineer will troubleshoot systems, ensure compliance with safety standards, and collaborate with teams to optimize performance. Flexible work-from-home options are available.
Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced control systems for land-based drilling rigs.
Perform lab and shop floor set-ups, integration testing, and factory acceptance testing.
Troubleshoot drilling rig control systems to minimize downtime.
Ensure control systems comply with industry safety standards.
Collaborate with engineering and operations to integrate new technologies.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
Train and mentor junior engineers and field technicians.
Skills
Designing and maintaining control systems for drilling rigs
PLC programming (Allen-Bradley or Siemens)
SCADA systems and HMI development
Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (ABB and GE Converteam)
Industrial PCs, Servers, networking, and communications protocols
Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of industry safety standards
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and maintaining control systems
