Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a field technician to perform penetrometer testing, locate borings and collect data in the Wilmington, NC area. You will work with drill rigs and support vehicles, ensuring accurate data and strict safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 0–3 years of experience in field geotechnical testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform penetrometer testing operations including borings and geoprobes.
• Locate borings in the field and record required drilling data.
• Report project issues to the project manager or supervisor.
• Maintain drill rigs and support trucks and report repairs to the drilling supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Load rigs and supplies daily and complete field paperwork accurately.
• Care for and clean company vehicles and drilling equipment.
• Maintain professional behavior and quality standards.
• Willingness to work out of town and on non-standard schedules as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performing standard penetrometer testing operations including performing borings and geoprobes
• Locating borings in the field
• Recording required drilling data
• Reporting project-specific issues to the project manager and/or your supervisor
• Performing drill rig and support truck maintenance; reporting repair and maintenance issues to the drilling supervisor
• Following company safety procedures and guidelines for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew personnel
• Safely and accurately loading drill rig and support vehicle each day with supplies. Promptly and accurately completing time sheets and field paperwork
• Care for and clean assigned company vehicles and drilling equipment and other assigned equipment
• Maintaining professional behavior and quality standards
• Willingness to work out of town and on non-standard work schedules when required
• Other duties as assigned
