Job summary

Mariana Minerals in Moab, UT is seeking an experienced Driller to support mineral exploration. You will safely operate drilling rigs, perform inspections, log findings, and ensure sample quality while following HSE standards.

Housing is provided onsite; you will mentor helpers, adapt to remote-site rotations, and contribute to responsible mineral sourcing.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Driller in mining or mineral exploration (RC, diamond core, rotary, or similar).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of drilling techniques and equipment.
• Willingness to work extended shifts or rotations at remote sites; safety-focused.

About Mariana Minerals

The Driller operates drilling rigs to support mineral exploration, resource definition, and mining programs. The role focuses on safe, efficient drilling, high quality sample or core recovery, equipment care, and following health, safety, and environmental standards, often at remote sites. Depending on the program, this may include reverse circulation (RC), diamond core, air rotary, or other drilling methods. Housing can be provided onsite.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate drilling rigs in line with site procedures, manufacturer specs, and regulatory requirements
• Do thorough pre-start inspections of rigs, compressors, pumps, rods, bits, hammers, and support equipment
• Handle routine servicing, lubrication, and basic mechanical troubleshooting to keep downtime low
• Collar holes accurately and hold the right angles, depths, and alignment per the drill plan
• Monitor and adjust drilling parameters like air or fluid pressure, rotation speed, weight on bit, bit wear, and penetration rate to get the best productivity and sample quality
• Make sure samples or core are recovered, handled, labeled, and stored correctly, with good contamination control
• Keep accurate drill logs, meters drilled, consumables used, and daily production reports
• Recognize changes in ground conditions and flag them to geologists and supervisors
• Lead and mentor offsiders/drill helpers and make sure the crew follows safe work practices and HSE requirements
• Keep the drill pad and equipment area clean and organized
• Take part in toolbox talks, pre-shift meetings, safety audits, and ongoing training
• Respond calmly and appropriately to equipment failures, emergencies, or changing site conditions

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Driller in mining or mineral exploration (RC, diamond core, rotary, or similar)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of drilling techniques and equipment
• Real commitment to safety and comfort working extended shifts or rotations at remote sites
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather

Nice to Have

• Experience across more than one drilling method
• Relevant certifications (e.g., MSHA, first aid/CPR, forklift or heavy equipment)
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus
• Experience supervising or training drill crews
