Are you an experienced heavy equipment operator with experience in vertical and/or horizontal earth drilling? Do you have a high mechanical aptitude and a desire to advance within the drilling and blasting industry with a stable, growing, majority employee-owned company? The ideal candidate will have Down the Hole (DTH) drilling experience, though top hammer drilling experience is acceptable as we are willing to cross-train. The primary work area is central eastern North Carolina, with potential travel to western NC or out of state if work demands change. Most work involves quarry drilling with DTH drills, but those with top hammer experience may also work on construction/DOT projects. Work hours range from 8 to 12 hours per day, depending on job demands. Candidates should be self-motivated, skilled in time management, and professional when interacting with customers and colleagues.

DRILL OPERATOR

Safely perform all construction or quarry drilling activities in accordance with the job program to achieve expected production.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and procedures
• Perform daily maintenance for safe, efficient equipment operation
• Understand and execute drill patterns and layouts as established by the Blaster Foreman
• Maximize usage of all drill supplies and inventory accessories, understanding their costs and maintenance needs
• Communicate problems and terrain conditions to the Blasting Supervisor
• Complete and submit drill reports, hole sheets, and signed timecards accurately and timely
• Participate in meetings: safety, job-specific, daily heads-up
• Work unsupervised while maintaining efficiency and safety
• Complete Driller I and II training certifications
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 5+ years hydraulic equipment operating experience
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation (truck)
• Personal cell phone for communication
• One year experience in construction industry
• Experience as a construction laborer
• Strong common sense regarding equipment and machinery operation
• Mechanical aptitude from experience with motors, hydraulic, electrical systems, etc.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
• Successful background screening for ATF

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50-100 lbs., 30-40% of the time
• Stooping and bending 30-40% of the time
• Work on uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions
