Job summary

EDE Corporation in Chicago is seeking a Draftsman to produce detailed drawings for fabrication within budget and to create assembly drawings that support successful installations.

You will gather project data, update design/build drawings (floor plans, layouts, furnishings, graphics), prepare fabrication drawings, file client records, and collaborate with Project Managers to meet schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years detailing experience in the Trade show Industry.
• General knowledge of construction, carpentry, joinery, extension systems, and finishing processes.
• Ability to engineer construction drawings from design sketches.
• Experience with AUTO CAD & MS Office software

Responsibilities

• Gather information related to project construction.
• Create new and update existing Design/Build drawings including floor plans, carpet layouts, utility locations and specifications, furnishings, specialty items, graphics, general properties layout and any other necessary layouts associated with show service ordering.
• Create all fabrication and set up drawings.
• Maintain all new client files as they pertain to construction and set up drawings.
• Assist the Project/Account Managers with other project drawing responsibilities.
• Ensure construction methods match the estimate or seek improvement through value engineering.
• Ensure all detailing hours match or are completed under the estimated time.
• Receive and review all project Service/Show Service orders.
• Maintain own project files and stores for future reference.
• Document time on a project and submit time cards.
• Ensure project safety and quality standards are upheld.
• Make field revisions to set-up drawings and floor plan drawings as required.
• Responsible for maintaining project schedule as determine by the Project Manager.
• Research new building products or methods as needed.
• Stores and files all electronic and hard copy client drawings, sketches and artwork.
• Attend weekly production meetings and provide input to job progress and potential problems.
• Assist Project Managers as needed.
• Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned, from time to time, by the Production Manager

Draftsman Job Responsibilities Overview:

The role of Trade Show Draftsman at EDE Corporation is to produce the necessary drawings required to allow a project to be fabricated efficiently and within the budgetary guidelines established. They will then create the assembly drawings that will convey the necessary information to make the Installation process a success.
