Flatiron Crane is seeking a skilled Draftsman to create and modify technical drawings for overhead cranes and material handling equipment. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management to ensure drawings support fabrication, installation, and project needs.

The role requires proficiency in CAD tools, the ability to read complex specifications, and a hands-on approach to fabrication details. Join a team focused on safety, reliability, and ongoing technical growth.

Formación

• Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD, Mechanical Design preferred.
• Experience drafting mechanical, structural, or industrial equipment preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Knowledge of structural steel, welding symbols and fabrication processes.
• Experience with overhead cranes or material handling equipment is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop detailed fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for overhead cranes and related components.
• Interpret engineering sketches, blueprints, customer specs, and field measurements.
• Prepare drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, and material specs.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, drawing revisions, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to resolve design issues.
• Review drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and project compliance.
• Assist with as-built drawings and modifications to existing equipment.

Position Description

Job Summary

The Draftsman is responsible for creating and modifying technical drawings for overhead cranes, structural steel, mechanical components, and industrial material handling equipment. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management to ensure drawings are accurate and support fabrication, installation, and project requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create and revise 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
• Develop detailed fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for overhead cranes, structural steel, and mechanical components.
• Interpret engineering sketches, blueprints, customer specifications, and field measurements.
• Prepare drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, and material specifications.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), drawing revisions, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to resolve design and drawing discrepancies.
• Review drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with project requirements.
• Assist with as-built drawings and modifications to existing equipment.

Position Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.
• Experience in mechanical, structural, or industrial equipment drafting preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of structural steel, welding symbols, mechanical assemblies, and fabrication processes.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with overhead cranes, material handling equipment, or industrial machinery is a plus.
