Job summary

Habasit America Inc in Suwanee, GA is seeking a Drafting Process Technician to support manufacturing through CAD drafting, product configuration, and technical documentation. Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD drafting, manufacturing, engineering support, or related technical fields.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
• Experience supporting manufacturing processes, tooling, product testing, and engineering improvements.
• Ability to develop SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Experience with ERP/PDM/PLM systems, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain CAD drawings, tooling designs, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Translate customer and engineering requirements into manufacturable product configurations while maintaining drawing accuracy.
• Provide technical drafting and product configuration support to Engineering, Production, Sales, Customer Care, and Quality.
• Assist engineers with process trials, tooling improvements, manufacturing troubleshooting, and implementation of process enhancements.
• Evaluate new materials, products, equipment, and fabrication methods to improve manufacturability and operational performance.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process maps, technical reports, and visual aids.
• Maintain accurate records of engineering changes, process trials, test results, and manufacturing improvements.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and A3 problem-solving initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

Drafting Process Technician

Salary Range: $25.00 To $29.00 Hourly

The Drafting Process Technician primarily supports manufacturing operations through CAD drafting, product configuration, and technical documentation. Additional responsibilities include assisting engineers with process trials, product testing, tooling improvements, SOP development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. CAD Drafting & Product Configuration

• Create, revise, and maintain 2D/3D CAD drawings, tooling designs, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Translate customer and engineering requirements into manufacturable product configurations while maintaining drawing accuracy and revision control.
• Provide technical drafting and product configuration support to Engineering, Production, Sales, Customer Care, and Quality.

2. Manufacturing & Engineering Support

• Assist engineers with process trials, tooling improvements, manufacturing troubleshooting, and implementation of process enhancements.
• Evaluate new materials, products, equipment, and fabrication methods to improve manufacturability and operational performance.

3. Testing & Process Validation

• Conduct product and process testing, collect and analyze data, document results, and recommend improvements.
• Support process audits, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and validation of manufacturing changes.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process maps, technical reports, and visual aids.
• Maintain accurate records of engineering changes, process trials, test results, and manufacturing improvements.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and A3 problem-solving initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain process improvements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD drafting, manufacturing, engineering support, or related technical fields.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software, including drawing creation, revisions, and documentation.
• Experience supporting manufacturing processes, tooling, product testing, and engineering improvements.
• Ability to develop SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation.

Preferred

• Experience with conveyor systems, plastic components, fabricated assemblies, or custom-engineered products.
• Familiarity with ERP/PDM/PLM systems, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and root cause analysis.
• Strong technical aptitude, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, technical data collection, and analysis.
• Effective communication, organization, time management, and cross-functional collaboration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position involves work in both office and manufacturing environments, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, and using hands for measurement and technical tasks. May require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally with assistance as needed. Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
