Job summary

Helmerich & Payne, Inc. in Tulsa, OK seeks a Drafter/Designer to translate design specs into detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for proposal, fabrication, and machining. The role uses CAD tools and requires accuracy and adherence to drafting standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a drafter or similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with PDM software, SolidWorks, Autodesk Vault, Inventor or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of structural and piping detailing and electrical/controls drafting is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical capabilities and mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, professional, and technical communication skills while working in a team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Translate design specifications from engineers into detailed working diagrams of electrical, structural, or mechanical equipment using CAD technology.
  • Create technical drawings and 3D digital models, using measurements, specifications, and data from the engineering team.
  • Revise existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts.
  • Maintain accurate drawing records and drafting tasks.
  • Prepare bill of materials for assigned designs.
  • Review drawings of other design personnel for completeness and accuracy as required.
  • Willling to learn about drilling rig equipment to develop domain knowledge and become an effective independent Designer.
  • Develop and revise drawings while adhering to H&P Drafting standards and H&P Engineering Standards & Guidelines.
  • Some travel required to fabrication facilities, assembly facilities, and rig locations.

At a Glance

The Drafter/Designer is responsible for preparing layouts, general arrangement and detailed drawings, in both 2D and 3D applications, with bill of materials for proposal presentations, equipment fabrication and machining.
