Drafter 2 – NSSS Mechanical System Engineering

Job summary

NuScale in Corvallis, OR is seeking a drafting/engineering professional to generate 3D parts and assemblies in Siemens NX, develop FEA/CFD geometry, and prepare PFDs and P&IDs for primary and balance of plant systems. You will create 2D drawings for reports and assist senior engineers in design documentation.

The role requires an associate degree in drafting or engineering graphics with 2+ years of experience; a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or engineering graphics is required.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of directly applicable full-time experience required.
• Familiarity with drafting standards and CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• PMI on models is a plus.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Good organization and time management.
• Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
• Ability to travel nationally and locally.
• Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.

• Assist engineers and senior designers in developing design documentation for engineering reports and studies.
• Maintain CAD part metadata in Aras Product Lifecycle Management system.
• Work alongside engineers and senior Designer/Drafters on NuScale structures, systems, and components.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Adhere to NuScale safety culture and model safe behavior.
• Understand and implement quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in drafting, engineering graphics technology, or pre-engineering from an accredited college or university required
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or another comparable technical discipline preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time, directly applicable working experience required
• A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering may be considered in lieu of work experience
• Familiarity with drafting standards and best practices through on-the-job training, internship, or classroom experience
• Familiarity with CAD modeling tools including Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
• Application of Part Manufacturing Information (PMI) on models is a plus
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
