Job summary

Champion Home Builders, Inc. seeks a Drafter for our Lake City, FL facility. You will create model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes using CAD, performing calculations to support designs and ensuring code compliance.

The role requires an Associate's degree or equivalent AutoCAD experience and offers benefits within a manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with Sales, Production and Quality Control to resolve design issues and ensure accurate, code-compliant drawings

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in AutoCAD or related field or 2–5 years' AutoCAD experience.
• AutoCAD software experience using 2015 or higher.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
• Team Player and quick learner.
• Must be able to pass a 7 Panel Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

• Design from rough sketches, drawings, specifications and customer data.
• Draft detailed construction drawings and installations (walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, ducts, elevations).
• Use CAD software to create and modify drawings.
• Submit drawings to sales, third-party agencies, and for approvals.
• Correspond with Production and Quality Control to resolve design issues.
• Lay out and adjust home arrangements and interconnections.
• Perform calculations and analyses to support designs.
• Ensure compliance with US commercial and residential building codes.

Summary:

Exercises discretion and judgment, creates model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes. Performs calculations and analysis to support designs by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Creates designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, foundation elevations, etc.
• Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software to create detailed drawings.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings of houses and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, potable water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, pier blocking, elevations, etc.
• Drafts limited approvals and submits to sales and third-party agencies.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.
• Confers with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems.
• Lays out, redesigns, and modifies home arrangement and interconnection components and systems.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete.
• Generates calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software.
• Submits drawings to third-party agencies for approval.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.

Education And/or Experience

Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school which includes advanced training in AutoCAD or two to five years' work experience using the AutoCAD software; or equivalent combination of education and training.
