Job summary

Champion Home Builders, Inc. seeks a Drafter to join our Lake City, FL manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will create model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes using AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with US building codes.

This role supports Sales, Production, and Quality teams with precise layouts and calculations. Requirements include an Associate's degree with AutoCAD training or 2–5 years of AutoCAD experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school including AutoCAD training, or equivalent experience.
• Two to five years' work experience using AutoCAD.
• Equivalent combination of education and training.

Responsibilities

• Creates designs from sketches, drawings, and specifications from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings for homes including walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, electrical, and cabinets.
• Uses CAD software to generate detailed drawings and layouts.
• Drafts installation drawings such as foundation elevations and pier blocking.
• Submits drawings to third-party agencies for approval.
• Confers with Production and Quality Control to resolve design issues.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Exercises discretion and judgment, creates model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes. Performs calculations and analysis to support designs by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Creates designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, foundation elevations, etc.
• Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software to create detailed drawings.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings of houses and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, potable water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, pier blocking, elevations, etc.
• Drafts limited approvals and submits to sales and third-party agencies.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.
• Confers with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems.
• Lays out, redesigns, and modifies home arrangement and interconnection components and systems.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete.
• Generates calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software.
• Submits drawings to third-party agencies for approval.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Must be familiar with commercial & residential building codes in the US.

Education And/or Experience

Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school which includes advanced training in AutoCAD or two to five years' work experience using the AutoCAD software; or equivalent combination of education and training.

Qualifications
