Summary

Exercises discretion and judgment to create model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes, performing calculations and analysis to support designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Creates designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications and other engineering data received from Sales and customers.
• Drafts detailed construction drawings for walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, foundations, elevations, and related installations.
• Uses computer‑assisted design (CAD) software to produce detailed drawings.
• Drafts limited approvals and submits to sales and third‑party agencies.
• Confers with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems.
• Lays out, redesigns, and modifies home arrangements and interconnections of components and systems.
• Utilizes knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Shows dimensions, material details, and other information necessary to make drawings clear and complete.
• Generates calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software.
• Submits drawings to third‑party agencies for approval.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or equivalently combined education and training. Advanced training in AutoCAD or 2–5 years of work experience using AutoCAD is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD 2015 or newer.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Team player.
• Quick learner.
