Qualifications

We are seeking a motivated CAD Drafter to support our Instrument Transformer engineering team. You will partner with design engineers to create and maintain precise production and customer outline drawings using AutoCAD and develop 3D models in SolidWorks for prototyping.

Job Description

Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our Engineering team, specifically supporting our Instrument Transformer business. In this role, you will work closely with design engineers to translate technical specifications into accurate production drawings and customer-facing outline drawings. Beyond day-to-day drafting, you will assist in developing 3D models in SolidWorks to support prototyping and broader engineering initiatives.

The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also possesses a proactive "can-do" attitude, eager to drive process improvements and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Drafting: Create, update, and maintain precise production drawings and customer outline drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring all output meets industry standards.
  • GD&T Compliance: Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to production drawings to ensure clarity, manufacturing feasibility, and quality control.
  • 3D Modeling: Develop and refine 3D models in SolidWorks to support new product development, prototyping, and engineering projects.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Partner with design engineers to ensure all drawings meet quality standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Data Management: Utilize SAP to manage part numbers, bills of materials (BOMs), and document control processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to departmental efficiency by identifying areas for process optimization and helping to drive positive change.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized project files and ensure all drafting documentation is kept current and compliant with internal standards.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience:2–3 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Drafting Standards: Strong knowledge of drafting standards and a deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for technical drawing accuracy.
  • Technical Tools: Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • System Experience: Familiarity with SAP or a similar ERP system is highly preferred.
  • Technical Background: Experience in mechanical drafting or a related technical field, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
