City of Malden is seeking a Tree Climber/Laborer in the Parks Division. This position performs skilled labor in parks and forestry, including tree care, trimming, and removal, and may involve climbing and supervising lower-rated crew members.
The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, three years of parks/forestry experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a valid MA CDL Class B with air brake endorsement. Strong communication and reliability are essential.

Hiring Hourly Salary Range: $25.88-$27.56 (FY26) without CDL
$30.36 - $32.04 (FY26) with CDL
Longevity Hourly Salary Range: $28.38-$30.12 (FY26) without CDL
$32.98 - $34.96 (FY26) with CDL

Under the direction of the DPW Director, Assistant Director, Supervisors, General Foreman, and Working Foreman, performs journeyman level skilled labor duties in parks and field maintenance as well as forestry work including all duties in the care of trees; operates saws and other tools related to cutting, trimming and removal of trees. Performs semi-skilled manual labor in connection with the general care of trees where climbing is required. May supervise a group of lower rated union employees. The Tree Climber must maintain a positive working relationship with all employees; and interactions with the City of Malden residents must always be courteous and professional.
Additional duties include manual labor tasks and other duties carried out as needed and as directed by management. Must be available to work when called in during emergencies after regular work shifts.
