Job summary

The State of Nevada Department of Public Safety is recruiting for DPS Officer Cadets to join the POST academy program in Carson City and other Nevada locations. Cadets receive classroom instruction, practical training, and physical training to obtain the mandatory certification for DPS Officers.

Cadets are promoted to DPS Officer 1 after academy graduation. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Twenty-one (21) years of age or older and graduation from high school or equivalent education.
• Must be able to undergo and pass the entrance exams and assessments listed in the recruitment process.

Responsibilities

• Engage in classroom instruction and field exercises during POST academy training.
• Be evaluated on class participation, coursework, assignments, and exams.
• Perform related duties as assigned during cadet training.
