Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services in Deer Park, TX is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Technician to service compressors and pumps used in Oil & Gas, Power Gen, Transportation, and Marine sectors.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain units on both Cooper OEM and non-OEM platforms, while following safety procedures and completing inspections. Strong teamwork and systematic problem solving are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• 2–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, ideally in oil & gas operations.
• Able to work safely around rotating/moving equipment and wear required PPE.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, climb stairs/ladders.
• Available for overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compressors and related components on Cooper OEM and non-OEM platforms.
• Maintain and repair pumps and related components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and elevate problems when needed.
• Support parts activities for reciprocating compressor maintenance and replacements.

Cooper Machinery Services has been building and servicing compression equipment since 1833, and the Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, Superior, and Gemini names still run in the field today. In our Deer Park shop you'll maintain and repair compressors and pumps for customers across Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Transportation, and Marine. You'll work on both Cooper OEM and non-OEM platforms and build your troubleshooting skills along the way. What you will do

• Maintain compressors and related components on Cooper OEM and non-OEM platforms, including compressor valves, spark plugs, and auxiliary cooling and lubrication systems
• Maintain and repair pumps and related components
• Troubleshoot common mechanical issues on compressors and pumps, and elevate problems when needed
• Support parts activities for reciprocating compressor maintenance, including identifying and requesting replacement components
• Use tools and test equipment effectively
• Perform and document routine regulatory inspections
• Follow company and industry procedures and read technical procedures and government regulations
• Complete timesheets, SAP orders, and work permits accurately
• Take part in training, risk management reviews, and safety meetings
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Who you are

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent related work experience)
• 2-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, ideally in oil and gas operations
• Able to work safely around rotating or moving equipment and wear required PPE
• Able to lift and transport up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, and climb stairs and ladders, including A-frame
• Able to walk, stand, stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch for up to 30 minutes at a time
• Available for overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as shop schedules require
• Valid driver's license
• Committed to quality, reliability, and safety, and able to complete routine tasks independently

Preferred

• 2 years of experience in operations or service center applications
• Experience with reciprocating compressor or pump equipment
• Completion of a technical school program
