The Work You Will Do:

D7 Transportation Intern.

The D7 Transportation Intern will provide support to the Office of the General Counsel through case file organization, document review and assistance with administrative and compliance-related tasks. The intern will gain exposure to transportation law, government operations, and regulatory processes while working under the supervision of agency attorneys and paralegals. This role is ideal for a student to explore a career in public service, or government policy.

Responsibilities:

Assist attorneys and paralegals with research, file review or case prep.

Support document management, including organizing case files, records and correspondence.

Contribute to special projects involving scanning of case files, disposition of archived case files, public records and departmental initiatives.

Provide general office communication and project support to the legal team.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Gain knowledge, skills and experience in the Transportation Industry. Perform routine tasks under direct supervision from the below track within a work unit within the department. Engage in research and provide insights to support initiatives. Interact with executive leadership, team leads, project managers, fellow interns, and external partners. Actively participate in team projects, contribute to agency goals, and assist in driving change within the organization.

Gain general knowledge, and perform technical tasks within the following focused track:

Self-Designed Track - (Any majors, explores specific areas for students desiring specific focus area(s)) Transportation Overview, One to three focus areas based on students’ interest/university requirements.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic math

Skills in:

  • Use of personal computer (PC) and Microsoft Office Application Programs

Ability to:

  • Understand and applyapplicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Communicate effectively with others and follow oral and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High school Equivalency.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.
  • Participants are required to comply with all statutes and rules and the Department’s policies, procedures, regulations, and Code of Ethics.
