Job summary

Texas Oncology in Plano West is seeking a Medical Dosimetrist to join the radiation team. You will develop, evaluate, and optimize treatment plans using Eclipse, ARIA, and other planning tools in collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist.

Strong knowledge of VMAT/IMRT/SBRT planning, precise contouring, and excellent communication are essential. Experience with Varian LINACs is a plus in a busy community oncology setting.

Qualifications

  • Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in planning VMAT, IMRT, SBRT/SRT, and 3D plans.
  • Prior work in a Varian linear accelerator environment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and imaging modalities with strong attention to detail.
  • Adapt to changing technology and learn new systems and techniques.
  • Perform duties independently with consults to the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
  • Consult and communicate with therapists about implementation of the treatment plan, immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other variables.
  • Design and fabricate immobilization devices, beam modifying devices, and planning aids as needed.
  • Leverage experience with Varian LINACs and related software to optimize plans.

Texas Oncology is looking for a Medical Dosimetrist to join our Texas Oncology - Plano West Radiation Team! In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The Dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images, which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and various imaging modalities, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to adapt to ever‑changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.
  • Must be able to perform routine duties independent of supervision but consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
  • Must be able to consult and communicate with the therapists regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
  • Must be able to perform or supervise the design and fabrication of immobilization devices, beam modifying devices (i.e., compensating filters, bolus, molds, custom shields, etc.) and treatment planning aids.
  • Strong experience with Varian LINACs, Eclipse TPS, ARIA, RadCalc, EZFluence, ClearCheck, AutoContour, and MiM Software are a plus
