Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group is seeking a Dosimetrist to apply physics, anatomy, and radiobiology to optimize radiation portals and exposure while respecting normal tissues, under the Radiation Oncologist's prescribed dose.

The position is hybrid (remote and onsite) with day shifts. You will collaborate with Simulation staff, Radiation Therapists, Oncologists, and Medical Physicists to develop, review, and adjust treatment plans, and ensure compliance with safety and reporting standards.

Qualifications

• CMD certification or MDCB eligibility; must pass within one year of hire.
• Ability to identify anatomical structures from different imaging modalities.
• Working knowledge of Windows-based software.
• Completion of Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Simulation staff and Radiation Therapists on patient setup and treatment.
• Coordinate with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to design treatment plans.
• Request physics support from Medical Physicist as needed.
• Develop and present treatment plans for review and approval.
• Assist with brachytherapy procedures as needed.
• Perform monitor unit calculations as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Dosimetrist will use their knowledge of physics, anatomy and radiobiology to develop an optimal arrangement of radiation portals and exposures to spare normal and radiosensitive tissues while applying a prescribed dose by the Radiation Oncologist to the targeted disease volume.

Shift: Days

What you will do

• Communicates and works closely with Simulation staff and Radiation Therapists on issues of patient setup and treatment.
• Communicates and works closely with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists in designing the treatment plan.
• Requests physics support as needed from Medical Physicist
• Develops treatment plans using needed resources and presents them to the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicists for review/approval.
• Assists with brachytherapy procedures as needed.
• Performs monitor unit calculations as needed

Qualifications

• Certified by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist CMD, or eligible to sit for the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board. If eligible, must pass within one year from date of hire.
• Must have ability to identify anatomical structures from different imaging modalities
• Working knowledge of Windows based software
• Proof of completion of Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter within three (3) months of hire.
