Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys is seeking staff for its retail store in Virginia. You will deliver friendly customer service, assist donors, and help process donated goods while maintaining accurate donor records and a secure, clean store environment.

Under supervision, you will support break-down of donations, manage donor interactions, and contribute to a welcoming shopping experience. This role emphasizes teamwork and professionalism in a community-focused organization.

Job description

Mission Contribution: To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the retail store through donor and customer relations, processing donated goods, quality control, to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager or designee, is responsible for customer service, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting donors, breakdown of donations and the maintenance of accurate donor records.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and donors.
• Ability to work within a team situation.
• Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
• Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Special Requirements:

• Having a cell phone is not required for employment, but access to applications and/or resources may be limited unless a cell phone is used for authentication.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
• Able to stand, bend and reach.
• Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as needed.
• Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion. Manual dexterity is required.
