Summary
Represents Goodwill at the point of donations and is responsible for greeting and assisting donors, unloading, pre‑sorting, and transferring donated goods to the sorting areas. The Donor Greeter will also transport merchandise to the sales floor, stock shelves, rotate and display merchandise as needed. Provides customer service and offers tax receipts. The Donor Greeter must provide support services by collaborating with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages.
Essential Functions
- Greets, thanks, and assists donors with donations.
- Maintains high level of customer service by meeting donors at their vehicle and assisting in unloading merchandise.
- Offers tax receipt to every donor.
- Transfers merchandise to donation center.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greets donors within 10 seconds in a courteous manner; assists in unloading donations from vehicles, offers tax receipts, and maintains accurate daily donor counts. Greets every donor with “Good Morning, Afternoon” and thanks them following the Donor Greeter Attendant SOP’s.
- Keeps the area observed by donors neat, clean, and well organized according to Kaizen procedures to ensure donors perceive Goodwill values their donation.
- Pre‑sorts hard goods using established Kaizen procedures and places items into designated material handling equipment.
- Places all textiles into designated material handling equipment.
- Transfers full material handling equipment to the area to be sorted, graded, and hung.
- Maintains the breakdown area in a neat and clean condition, including trash handling as directed, and maintains Kaizen parameters.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
- Maintains acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress code standards, including wearing company issued name badges.
- Works closely with store management and other associates to ensure donations reach the sales floor in a timely manner.
- Keeps inside and outside of donation center organized and clean.
- Cleans up all work areas at the end of each shift.
- Follows all company and department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates excellent work habits, maintaining a respectful attitude toward the operation of the facility and being a positive role model for individuals receiving rehabilitation services.
- Ensures all safety rules are adhered to and that the general upkeep of the area meets the standards of Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc.; reports accidents or injuries immediately.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. and persons receiving services.
- Assists in other areas as requested.
Qualifications
- No experience required.
- Ability to give good customer service and be friendly and polite.
- Ability to make quick decisions regarding merchandise quality.
- Ability to read, write and speak English (preferred) and have a basic math aptitude.
- Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
- Must be able to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
- Must be willing to transfer to other stores as requested.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co‑workers, customers, donors, and persons receiving services.
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance.
- Ability to provide support services by working with disabled/disadvantaged persons and assisting in the rehabilitation process of Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and stand for long periods; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly during a shift.
- Ability to stand, bend and reach above shoulders continuously during a shift.
- Capable of working significant portions of shifts outdoors throughout the year. The environment contains dust and noise.
