Octapharma Plasma, Inc. in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Donor Center Technician to determine donor eligibility, collect plasma, and process products in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.

You’ll deliver high-quality donor service, operate plasmapheresis equipment, monitor donor safety, maintain records, and support training and quality initiatives in a fast-paced, safety‑minded environment. Flexible shifts including days, evenings, and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required or preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to read/write English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility according to SOPs and regulations.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot plasmapheresis equipment; monitor donor safety.
• Collect, process, and store plasma and samples in compliance with SOPs and regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and inventory; ensure proper waste disposal.
• Provide accurate recordkeeping and assist with training and QA initiatives.

Job description

Job Summary

This role is responsible for determining donor eligibility, plasma collection, and product processing while maintaining compliance.

This Is What You’ll Do

• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain production standards and facility compliance.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain a positive donor experience while safeguarding donor confidentiality.
• Assess donor eligibility, including vitals evaluation, Microhematocrit and Total Protein testing, and registration, in accordance with SOPs.
• Monitor donor conditions throughout donation to ensure safety, comfort, and product quality.
• Set up and operate plasmapheresis equipment, troubleshoot alarms, respond to adverse events, and disconnect donors after procedures.
• Collect, process, and store plasma products and samples in compliance with SOPs and federal transportation regulations, including freezer/refrigerator monitoring and variance reporting.
• Maintain donor center equipment through routine and periodic QC checks and manufacturer-recommended procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, manage supplies, and ensure safe biohazard disposal.
• Provide accurate and complete recordkeeping in compliance with SOPs and company policy.
• Mentor and train staff as a Designated Trainer; partner with Quality Assurance on floor performance, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform inventory-related tasks, including First-In-First-Out procedures, to ensure product quality and availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.

Required Certifications, Licenses, And Registrations

• Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
• Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions.
• Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to utilize all required and appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time.
• Ability to enter an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis and be punctual.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
