Octapharma Plasma, Inc. is seeking a donor center professional in Houston to determine donor eligibility, collect plasma, and process products while maintaining strict compliance with SOPs and regulations.

You will ensure donor safety and a positive experience, operate plasmapheresis equipment, record data accurately, and participate in training and quality initiatives across the center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 months’ clerical or customer service experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to read/write English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location-specific).
• Must understand regulations, instructions, and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations (FDA SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
• Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain a positive donor experience.
• Assess donor eligibility including vitals, hematocrit, total protein testing, and registration per SOPs.
• Monitor donor conditions to ensure safety and product quality.
• Set up and operate plasmapheresis equipment, troubleshoot alarms, respond to adverse events, disconnect donors after procedures.
• Collect, process, store plasma products and samples per SOPs and transportation regulations.
• Maintain donor center equipment with QC checks and manufacturer procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, manage supplies, and ensure safe biohazard disposal.
• Provide accurate recordkeeping per SOPs and company policy.
• Mentor and train staff as Designated Trainer; partner on CAPA and continuous improvement.
• Handle inventory tasks, including FIFO, to ensure product quality and availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This Is What You’ll Do

• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain production standards and facility compliance.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain a positive donor experience while safeguarding donor confidentiality.
• Assess donor eligibility, including vitals evaluation, Microhematocrit and Total Protein testing, and registration, in accordance with SOPs.
• Monitor donor conditions throughout donation to ensure safety, comfort, and product quality.
• Set up and operate plasmapheresis equipment, troubleshoot alarms, respond to adverse events, and disconnect donors after procedures.
• Collect, process, and store plasma products and samples in compliance with SOPs and federal transportation regulations, including freezer/refrigerator monitoring and variance reporting.
• Maintain donor center equipment through routine and periodic QC checks and manufacturer-recommended procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, manage supplies, and ensure safe biohazard disposal.
• Provide accurate and complete recordkeeping in compliance with SOPs and company policy.
• Mentor and train staff as a Designated Trainer; partner with Quality Assurance on floor performance, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform inventory-related tasks, including First-In-First-Out procedures, to ensure product quality and availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.

Required Certifications, Licenses, And Registrations

• Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
• Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions.
• Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to utilize all required and appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time.
• Ability to enter an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis and be punctual.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
