Job summary

Octapharma Plasma, Inc. is seeking a donor center technician responsible for donor eligibility, plasma collection, and product processing in a compliant environment.

You will uphold strong customer service, donor confidentiality, and accurate recordkeeping while working with plasmapheresis equipment and regulated SOPs. The role requires attention to safety, ability to perform eligibility checks, and willingness to work varied shifts in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum experience: 3 months in clerical or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state/federal/industry regulations to maintain production standards and facility compliance.
• Maintain high levels of customer service, donor confidentiality, and positive donor experience.
• Monitor donor conditions and perform eligibility assessments (vitals, microhematocrit, total protein testing, donor registration) for safety and quality.
• Set up, prepare, and operate automated plasmapheresis equipment; respond to alarms, troubleshoot alerts, and disconnect donors after procedures.
• Perform plasma collection and processing, including sterile products and sample handling, freezer organization, and shipment preparation per SOPs and regulations.
• Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; report malfunctions and document variances.
• Maintain cleanliness of donor center and work areas; ensure professional appearance and safe disposal of biohazard waste and spills.
• Maintain and perform quality control on donor center equipment per SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain complete and accurate recordkeeping in compliance with company SOPs.
• Provide oversight of product safety and quality by monitoring collection ratios, donor safety, and adverse events.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine quality control checks on equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This Is What You’ll Do

• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain production standards and facility compliance.
• Maintain high levels of customer service, donor confidentiality, and positive donor experience.
• Monitor donor conditions and perform eligibility assessments, including vitals, microhematocrit, total protein testing, and donor registration, to ensure safety and product quality.
• Set up, prepare, and operate automated plasmapheresis equipment; respond to alarms, troubleshoot alerts, and disconnect donors upon procedure completion.
• Perform plasma collection and processing, including sterile products and sample handling, freezer organization, and preparation of shipments in compliance with SOPs and transportation regulations.
• Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, report malfunctions, and document variances as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of the donor center and work areas, ensuring professional appearance, proper stocking, and safe disposal of biohazardous waste and spills.
• Maintain and perform quality control on donor center equipment according to SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain complete and accurate recordkeeping in compliance with company SOPs.
• Provide oversight of product safety and quality by maintaining proper collection ratios, monitoring donor safety, and responding to adverse donor events.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine quality control checks on equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.

Required Certifications, Licenses, And Registrations

• Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
• Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions.
• Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to utilize all required and appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time.
• Ability to enter an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis and be punctual.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).

Pay Transparency

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.27 -$21.70-$27.12. Please note this wage range reflects what Octapharma Plasma expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
