Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking candidates for a phlebotomy-focused role at our Blaine, Minnesota site. You will assist with every step of the blood collection process, ensuring a welcoming environment for volunteer donors and strict adherence to safety procedures.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided, with opportunities to grow healthcare skills within the nation’s leading humanitarian organization. Schedule may vary, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree OR a combination of education and work experience is required.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience in a public setting is required.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements include lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights, good manual dexterity, ability to sit or stand for long periods, and long or irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with donors personally and explain how impactful their donation is.
  • Work with teammates to create a welcoming environment so donors feel comfortable returning.
  • Ensure the blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

When you join ourteamyou will beutilizingyour healthcare and/or customer service skills toassistwith every step of the blood collection process at our fixed site locations. This includes collaborating with your team to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteerdonors, andfollowingall safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCEFORGOOD (Key Responsibilities):
  • Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
  • Collaborate with your teammates to create a welcoming and friendlyenvironmentso our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming backagain and again.
  • Be detailed oriented all day, every day. This ensures that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
Standard Schedule: (Blaine, Minnesota).
  • To best meet the needs of our donors and community, staffworka variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends,and holidays.
  • Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.
Pay Information:

Starting rate $23.44/hour.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Associates degreeORa combination of education and work experienceisrequired.
  • Minimumof oneyearcustomer service experience inpublicsettingisrequired.
  • A current, valid driver's license withagood drivingrecordisrequired.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift,pushor pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand forlong periodsof time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changesarerequired.
  • Basic computer skills arerequired. Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT,etc.).
  • Prior leadership experience.
