Job summary

The Donation Services Driver at Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc. will regularly collect donations from homes, businesses and drives, ensuring courteous service and proper handling.

You will maintain records, prepare receipts, and transport items to drop-offs and stores, while upholding safety and DOT guidelines. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, a valid Class D license, and at least one year of driving experience.

• At least 1 year of driving experience.
• Class D driver’s license required and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous customer service to donors and greet donors in route.
• Carry, sort, pack, and load donations as designated by leadership.
• Transport and deliver donated items to assigned retail stores and drop-offs.
• Maintain donation records and issue receipts to donors.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and required donation tracking reports.
• Follow safety procedures and road regulations; communicate any issues to supervisor.

Job Summary:

The Donation Services Driver will provide a consistent acquisition of donations through our pickup program. To represent Goodwill by assisting donors in an efficient, friendly manner when picking up donated goods from homes, businesses and donation drives. To safeguard donations by sorting and packing them in proper receptacles and onto the trucks. To offer donors excellent customer service and donation receipts for their items. To maintain records of the number of donations received and locations of internal drop-offs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Exhibit a high level of customer service awareness, including being courteous and appreciative to all donors, calling when in route, providing donation receipts, and greeting donors.
• Carry, sort, pack, and load donations as designated by Donation Services leadership.
• To handle all donations with care assuring the highest potential of utility.
• Decline donations graciously when appropriate.
• To effectively communication Goodwill’s mission to donors
• To complete pre-trip inspections, daily donation tracking and other reports as required in an accurate and timely manner.
• Transport and deliver donated items to assigned retail store.
• Assist store in the unloading of these items.
• Provide guidance and leadership to the helper.
• Uphold the safety of the work areas and trucks by following company policies and procedures.
• Follow all rules and regulations of the road including local, state, and federal laws.
• Provide prompt accurate feedback to supervisor on any obstacles, concerns or violations of company policies.
• Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.
• Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
• Being flexible with the ability to work Community and Fundraising Donation Drives on Saturdays.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Required Skills Education High School diploma or GED. (5 years of positive experience as a Mover or certification in a like field may be substituted.)
• Experience One year of previous driving experience required. One year clean driving history.
• Certifications and Licenses Class D driver’s license
• Knowledge and Skills Able to comply with the Department of Transportation requirements and posses a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Report and pass a D.O.T. physical. Communicate effectively and interact with persons of various backgrounds and experiences. Great customer service skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to be consistently at work and on time. Possess strong organizational skills and able to establish priorities. Function independently within the realms of established policies and guidelines. Able to be dependable and conscientious. Able to promote cooperation and a team environment within the department. Able to maintain strict confidentiality of records of persons served and supervised at all times. Knowledge of road safety. Ability to learn new processes quickly. Ability to lift or carry loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously. Ability to push or pull loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously. Ability to read and do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Must know and use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury. Must have sufficient stamina for steady work pace through an entire shift. Ability to work outdoors in wet, hot cold and /or humid weather conditions.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

Experience as a Mover or related profession.
