Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Donation Attendant at the Santee thrift store. This role supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program by ensuring a positive donor experience and efficient donation handling, with emphasis on accuracy in receipts and reports.

Responsibilities include maintaining the donation area, assisting donors and staff, and ensuring security of the donation trailer at shift end. Strong reading, writing and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Must pass background check (Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry).
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, customers, and donors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean the donation area around the trailer/pod at shift start and end.
• Assist donors in receipt of donated items and provide receipts.
• Maintain reports and paperwork as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Sort donated material into containers and stack as directed.
• Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as needed.
• Inform supervisor of items needed before running out (e.g., brooms, receipts, totes, carts).
• Secure and lock the Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.

Position

Donation Attendant — you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Maintaining and cleaning up the area around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift
• Assisting donors in receipt of donated items and providing receipts
• Maintaining all reports and paperwork as instructed by the Supervisor
• Separating and sorting donated material into proper containers and stacking as instructed by the Supervisor
• Assisting TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as necessary
• Informing the supervisor of items needed before running out (e.g., brooms, receipts, totes, carts)
• Securing and locking the Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required

• Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on a regular basis
• Ability to grasp and move objects such as files, carts, merchandise racks, and fixtures
• Ability to move product up to 75 lbs
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Schedule

Stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
