Mattel, Inc.’s American Girl Retail team seeks an Experience Associate (Doll Hair Stylist) to deliver personalized doll salon services and memorable guest experiences. You will combine hairstyling expertise with product knowledge to support guest satisfaction and drive sales.

In this role, you will work in a dynamic store environment, collaborate with team members, and participate in events while upholding safety and quality standards. Training for ear piercing is provided where applicable.

Competenze

• Experience styling hair, particularly doll hair, preferred.
• Previous sales or customer-service experience in specialty retail or a service environment preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.

The Team

The American Girl Retail team is integral in providing lifetime memories to American Girl fans and their families. Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. The Opportunity

The Experience Associate (Doll Hair Stylist) creates memorable experiences for American Girl guests and their families by delivering engaging, personalized doll salon services. This role combines doll hairstyling expertise, product knowledge, and exceptional guest service to support guest satisfaction and sales opportunities. Through collaboration, attention to quality and safety standards, and support of daily salon operations, the Experience Associate contributes to the overall success of the American Girl retail experience.

What Your Impact Will Be

• Deliver exceptional guest service by proactively engaging guests, understanding their needs, and creating welcoming, memorable experiences that reflect American Girl’s service standards.
• Perform doll hairstyling services according to company standards, demonstrating proper doll hair and skin care techniques to educate guests and ensure consistent service quality.
• Perform ear piercing services for girls and dolls upon completion of required training and certification, following established procedures, completing required documentation, and communicating aftercare instructions to guests.
• Recommend salon services, complementary products, and current promotions by sharing product knowledge and identifying opportunities to enhance the guest experience and support sales.
• Support daily salon operations by maintaining an organized and well-stocked service area, monitoring salon supplies, and communicating inventory replenishment needs to management.
• Participate in salon events, hairstyling demonstrations, Doll Hair and Manicure Day activities, and private birthday parties to create engaging experiences for guests and families.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive work environment, assist with training new associates, and support other areas of the store based on business needs.

Education & Experience

• Previous sales experience in specialty retail or a customer-focused service environment preferred.
• Experience styling hair, particularly doll hair, preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• No specific degree or minimum years of experience identified in the source documents.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to learn and perform doll hairstyling techniques while maintaining American Girl’s service and quality standards.
• Strong guest service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with children and families.
• Ability and willingness to perform girl ear piercing services following required training, certification, and established procedures.
• Ability to communicate product knowledge, explain salon services, and recommend complementary products to guests.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, including the ability to support the training of new associates.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain salon supplies, inventory, and service areas.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and support multiple areas of the retail store.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

The pay range for this position is between $15 and $17.25 [per hour]. The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
