Job summary

Destination Pet LLC in Melbourne, FL is hiring a Dog Trainer to join our K9 Kampus team. You will create training plans, teach commands, and guide pet parents to reinforce good behavior, with emphasis on safety and compassion.

Must have one year of professional dog training experience; training certification preferred. Evening and weekend availability required. Compensation is $18.00/hour DOE plus 5% commission, with benefits including Telehealth, 401K and Pet Insurance.

Teach commands to the dog and pet parent. Be patient with a stubborn dog. Teach pet parents about dog behavior. Understand a pet parent’s needs. Work with the pet parent to teach them about their dog. Teach pet parents how to reinforce good behavior. Listen to pet parent concerns. Performs add-on services as needed. Follows procedures for the safe handling of all pets.REQUIREMENTS:Expertise & Experience:Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!One year of professional dog training experience required.Training certification preferred.Knowledge of various dog commands.Knowledge of different dog breeds.Ability to communicate effectively with clients.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to identify pet behavioral issues.Ability to create a plan of action for pet parents.CGC Evaluator, AKC Evaluator.Physical:Must be able to work evenings and weekends Must frequently lift 40 pounds. Must be able to be on feet for the duration of your shift. Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
