Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. seeks a dedicated shelter care assistant to provide humane handling and daily care for dogs, ensuring nutrition, housing, enrichment, and safety.

Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, entering locations in PetPoint, monitoring health, training new staff on SOPs, and assisting with humane euthanasia when needed. Must be patient, reliable, and able to lift up to 50 pounds. The role also requires teamwork and calmness under stress.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Louisiana State Driver’s License required.
• Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician through the LSBVM or willing to become certified.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of care and humane handling for shelter dogs.
• Maintain safe and sanitary facility and daily care routines.
• Clean and disinfect housing spaces following SOPs.
• Monitor health and behavior; report concerns.
• Train new hires on SOPs.
• Record observations in PetPoint daily.
• Move animals around facility as directed.
• Perform humane euthanasia when required.
• Complete annual employee reviews with Shelter Senior Manager.
