Overview

As a Document Review Analyst within the Discovery and Disclosure group, specifically in the role of a FOIA Document Analyst, you will be instrumental in assisting a federal agency in responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, including:

  • Receiving, reviewing, and analyzing new FOIA requests to ensure they meet the necessary criteria for processing under FOIA and/or PA.

  • Providing information on FOIA and client FOIA procedures to employees and requesters.
  • Assisting FOIA specialists in implementing privacy policies and procedures.
  • Processing records in response to litigation requests, maintaining the same deliverables as non-litigation requests.
  • Triage new FOIA requests, reviewing and assigning them to ensure sufficiency.
  • Processing complex FOIA requests by conducting thorough record searches, reviewing, organizing, and analyzing search results, applying lawful exemptions, and redacting responsive records in compliance with FOIA policy and established procedures.
  • Exercising discretion and judgment in determining the responsiveness of records to FOIA requests and identifying and redacting protected information.
  • Preparing correspondence with requestors and final document packages, releasing redacted responsive records.
  • Researching and analyzing sensitive, classified, and controversial data to make pertinent FOIA determinations and evaluating various correspondence and reports for FOIA applicability and associated policies.
  • Tracking and managing FOIA requests from receipt to production using an electronic case management system.
  • Working independently and efficiently at a high-performance level with minimal input from program leadership.
  • Supporting Implementation and Operations Management best practices, performing analysis and diagnosis of client issues, and demonstrating a foundational understanding of the client environment and overall project scope.
  • Identifying and solving problems using analysis, experience, and judgment, while working as part of a team in a process-oriented and deadline-driven environment.
  • Utilizing professional oral and written communication skills effectively.
