Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a technical writer to create clear, accurate documentation for the Solid Rocket Motor program. You will work closely with engineering to verify data, organize product information, and prepare materials for publication while adhering to terminology and editorial standards.

The role supports multiple facilities including Huntsville, AL and may involve remote work.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Quality or Business Administration.
• Change/Version Control. Change Request Management. Configuration Management. Release Engineering. Writing Procedures & Documentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes changes of product design to determine the effect on the end product design and function and determines and prepares documentation necessary for change.
• Coordinates with customers and manufacturers to determine a process for change reporting.
• Reviews released engineering change data and changes documenting activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies.
• Supports quality, engineering, technology, production, or research departments by collecting and maintaining blueprints, specifications, schematics, or other forms of technical documentation.
• Ensures documents are retained and destroyed in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Implements processes for document approval, distribution, modification, and destruction.
• May utilize an electronic document/record management system.
• Ability to read contracts and understand requirements of documentation.

Job Summary

Responsible for creating clear, accurate technical documentation for the Solid Rocket Motor program, including operations, maintenance, repair instructions, and engineering specifications. Works closely with engineering teams to gather and verify technical data, organize and maintain product information, and prepare content for publication. Ensures all materials follow established terminology, formatting, and editorial standards to support program consistency and compliance. This position can be remote or at our Huntsville, AL., Niceville FL., or Hampton, AR. facility.

Pay Range (USD)

$71/k- $96/k

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
